100 Best Vegan Products
I've been vegan for 4 decades and have lived in both hemispheres, thus I have sampled a lot of vegan products! Here are some recommendations along with my reasons. I suggest eating whole foods, but also enjoy some vegan snacks. None of the vegan goodies were available when I went vegan, so it's exciting for me. I regard “fair-trade” as a part of being vegan. I don't believe in products of human slavery any more than products derived from the slavery of other species. A product is vegan when it's made of plant ingredients, not refined using animal-derived ingredients, and not tested on animals. While I do not eat a lot of processed foods, for some people the plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy are necessary for them to remain vegan. In the United States, Costco, Walmart, and Trader Joe's offer vegan products at economical prices. We really love our dogs and chocolate. For the very best in vegan products for dogs, scroll down. Let's begin with chocolate!
This is by far the best vegan chocolate bar in the world. Sadly, I can't get it in the U.S. |
I enjoyed these when in New Zealand. They're from Europe...there is no better chocolate bar on Earth! |
I like this Costco brand because they're fair-trade, economical, vegan and organic. Ethics taste great! |
Sjaak's offer small-batch, delectable vegan, organic, fair-trade chocolate, in a wide variety. They're in California. |
Eli's Earth bars taste fantastic. Order them from Sjaak's. |
Moo-Free Chocolates are sweet and creamy.
Based in the U.K. The mint mini's are my favorite.
I prefer the "Creamy Sweet" bar more than the dark chocolate by Dream Chocolate; which is safe on the fair-trade chocolate list. |
All the right ethics tastes good to me!
Deavas Belgian Thins are healthy and yummy.
I sampled Sheese products when in Australia. I was very impressed! Sheese is produced by U.K. vegan company; Bute Island Foods. We need to bring Sheese to the U.S.
My non-vegan neighbors and relatives who are not open to 'vegan-meat' enjoy Beyond Meat Burgers! They're the real deal! Even I can't resist them, and I rarely eat meat-alternatives. It's ingredients are the best of all the plant-based meats. |
Field Roast Breakfast Sausages are delectable! Good ingredients. Great taste. |
I enjoy the cashew varieties of So Delicious; a vegan company that I feel good about supporting. However, they're chocolate is not on the fair-trade list. The Salted Caramel Cluster is the only vegan ice cream I generally eat! |
All of Hippeas products are vegan! A delicious and healthy snack. I like the vegan white cheddar the best. |
I'm out of control when I eat Made Good's granola mini snacks. They're so good because they're one of the healthiest snacks. I prefer the mixed berry. They also have chocolate chip and their chocolate is sanctioned good on the Fair-Trade Chocolate list! |
I've been using Dr. Bronner's liquid soap for decades. It's an economical, great product. It is concentrated, so dilute! |
Daiya Cheese is tasty! The cheese blocks are mouthwatering. It's a Canada-based, dairy-alternative company, however in 2017, they were sold to a Japanese pharmaceutical company (not vegan!) |
Wow...this is an incredible cheese! Dr. Cow's products are raw and made from cashew nuts. All are vegan, organic, non-GMO, Soy-Free. |
Most, if not all, vegan food has no Vitamin D, unless fortified. Our bodies make this important nutrient from sunlight exposure on skin. It's wonderful that Monterey Mushrooms offer mushrooms exposed to sunlight that contain Vitamin D. You might find them at Walmart, Sam's Club, or Costco. |
Quinoa is technically a seed, but classified as as whole grain. It's typically organic and should be a part of a healthy vegan diet. Quinoa is a complete protein. Costco sells it, economically. |
So Delicious is a vegan company that make great products. The yogurt is wonderful; my favorites are peach and strawberry. Their chocolate is not on the fair-trade (slave-free) list, please note. |
A high-performance concentrate cleaner and de-greaser with real essential oils. Environmentally-friendly, plant-based and cruelty-free. CitraSolv is one of the best cleaners, and smells wonderful! |
Eco-Dent's products are vegan and use quality ingredients. I regularly use both the oral rinse and the tooth powder; pictured here. |
Whole Earth and Sea offer superior products. Multi's are food-sourced, and many of the ingredients come from their own farm in Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Certified organic and non-GMO. Their crops are fertilized with compost and nitrogen-rich sea plants. The multi includes important nutrients that many don't include, such as Vitamin K2 that is food-sourced from Natto; the best source. (Many people are deficient in this important nutrient (K2) that originates from bacterial synthesis, from fermented foods.) The multi also includes plant sourced Vitamin D3 (which is generally animal-based). I also recommend their "Bone Structure" supplement.
I can't recommend this healthy and delicious product
enough! Cleveland Kraut (sauerkraut) has been shown in studies to have billions of live and raw probiotics per pouch, at time of harvest. All the flavors are delicious; my favorite is the roasted garlic for healing properties and taste. Look
for it in grocery stores, Walmart, Target, and Amazon.
|
It's important for vegans to consume fermented foods/drinks. Synergy Kombucha says vegan on the label. They use organic kiwi juice as their sugar. They contain live probiotics that improve gut health. You can drink too much; limit intake. My favorites are the gingerade and ginerberry flavors. |
Miyokos offers fine artisan vegan products. It's 100% vegan and NO palm oil. It's a bit pricier than other vegan margarine, but uses more quality and ethical ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil, Filtered Water, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Cashews, Organic Sunflower Lecithin, Sea Salt, Cultures. Very tasty! |
All I can say is everything tastes better with Vegenaise. It's the only mayo I would ever choose, made by vegan company Follow Your Heart. |
Rapadura is by far the best sugar I've ever eaten. It's made by Rapunzel; a European company, not easily found in the U.S. It is fair-trade, organic, evaporated cane sugar. It's not refined. Delicious, ethical, healthy. Other companies in the U.S. may sell their own brand of Rapadura. |
I enjoy Now Foods powdered Nutritional Yeast over the flakes. It is fortified with plenty of Vitamin B12 and is rich in B Vitamins. |
Red Star Nutritional Yeast is one of the earliest providers of nutritional yeast. It has a nutty and cheesy flavor, rich in B Vitamins (including B12) as well as other superfood nutrients. |
Coffee has it's benefits and downfalls. I am addicted to coffee and Puroast is the only brand my body happily accepts. Dark French Roast is the healthiest. Puroast is high in antioxidants and low in acidity. |
The RW Garcia Crackers are gluten-free, delicious, vegan, and made from healthy ingredients. I have only tried the organic lentil, 3 seed, with turmeric variety, pictured here. |
I enjoy these 6-Seed Multi-Grain Crackers as chips or with avocado. They're gluten-free and whole grain. We get them from Costco in big boxes, economically. Not all crackers from CrunchMaster are vegan, check labels. |
Field Roast's artisanal Chao Cheeses are made with fermented tofu. Very tasty. Good ingredients. Easily found in grocery stores. |
Daiya is one of the best tasting vegan cheeses. They make shreds for melting, slices, and chunks. A dairy-alternative company, that, in 2017, was sold to a Japanese pharmaceutical company. Pharmaceuticals are tested on animals. |
Tempeh is a healthy food to include in a vegan diet. Tofurky offers this already seasoned tempeh product. |
I love Bolthouse Organic Carrot Juice. It's just carrot juice and nothing else. We vegans convert beta-carotene into Vitamin A. Carrot juice is one of the best ways to achieve that! This brand is easily found in grocery stores, or economically at Costco. |
An easy-to-find, economical buttery spread by Earth Balance. It does contain palm fruit; some vegans don't use palm. I corresponded with Earth Balance and they assured me that (only) the organic version is a sustainable palm product that does not displace animals in the wild (because it's not grown in those regions). Walmart sells it at a good price. |
Coconut Clusters are vegan, gluten-free, No-GMO's or preservatives. You might find them economically- priced at Costco. A healthy snack. Enjoy! |
These cauliflower snacks are made with healthy ingredients and taste lovely. They were a Costco score. Not all products from this company are vegan; read labels. |
I was gifted an assortment basket of Derma-E products. I enjoyed all the products very much. I can't afford them, but can honestly say they offer great and ethical products. All Derma-E products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. They're also free of parabens, sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oils, phthalates, and sodium lauryl sulfates. |
MyKind Organic Plant Calcium is certified vegan. (Though it's made from organically-grown plants and organic farming is often not vegan.) This product is made from an easy to digest plant source of organic algae for the calcium, along with Vitamin K2 (an important nutrient that transports calcium to the bones and teeth that many people are deficient in), Vegan Vitamin D3, and Magnesium, and over 20 organic fruits and vegetables. |
We score this Eco laundry detergent, economically at Costco. Ecos products are Earth-Friendly. It's a green company using renewable energy. All their products are plant-derived or mineral-based, are readily biodegradable, do not pollute and don't bio-accumulate. I also use their Dishmate. |
This is one product that I'm totally addicted to and use daily. I'm very close to my dog friend; he sleeps in bed with me and is always next to me. I use these Eco Pet Wipes after he goes for walks/poops. I feel that I don't have to bath him as much since I use these, and I feel good about the ingredients: Purified Water, Lauryl Glucoside (plant-derived surfactant), Glycerin (plant-derived skin softener), Chamomilia Recutita (matricaria) Flower Extract (soothing plant extract), Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (soothing plant extract), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf extract (soothing plant extract), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin El (plant-derived antioxidant), Phenoxethanol (preservative), Potassium Sorbate (food grade preservative), Citric acid (plant-derived pH adjuster), Peppermint Essential Oil. |
V-Dog is a vegan Company offering high quality products: kibble, breathbones, and dog chews. They are easily found on Chewy, Amazon, or V-Dog.com. The ingredients are superior. They are a standard in my dog's diet. However, I offer several brands for several reasons. One of their ingredients is spinach which is high in oxalic acid, so I don't want to overload on oxalates to avoid kidney stones. Also, I like to change it up for my dog's taste buds. Each of the brands I recommend have something really good about their product, so my dog friend gets all of them! |
Halo Vegan Kibble is a quality formula. Halo is not a vegan company. This product is not only vegan, but contains no wheat, corn or rice (allergens). It is sourced from whole grains, green peas, and chickpeas. My dog is allergy sensitive and this is one of the better brands for him. I noticed that he also poops more and better from this formula; I'm guessing it might be the amount of flax-seeds. They also offer a canned vegan dog food recipe. |
ProDen's Plaque Off Dental Care Bones (Vegetable Fusion-VEGAN) are a fantastic product. I cut them into 4 pieces, but I've learned the company makes mini ones. They can be given daily to clean plaque and tarter. They're grain-free, soy-free, and gluten-free. Made with sea kelp and vegan probiotics. |
Whimzees dental chews are a staple in the care of my dog friends. I cut them in half or thirds. The glycerin is Non-GMO vegetable oils. Whimzees is based in Holland, but are an international product; easily found. Zukes, dog-loved dental chews with all vegan & healthy ingredients. |
VeganPet sells only vegan products for dogs and cats. Based in Australia, it is one of the most complete and balanced brands; a formulation that has been scientifically evaluated. I've heard of cats doing fine on VeganPet cat food. I lived in New Zealand and this was the brand I fed our dogs. |
Halo Garden of Vegan Sweet potato/carrot/quinoa formula treat is one of the least allergen and healthier treats that I offer to my dog friend. Made from Non-GMO vegetables, chickpeas and quinoa. Low fat. No fillers, rice, or corn. |
As seen on Shark Tank, this new (vegan) company, Wild Earth, offers vegan dog treats and vegan dog kibble. It has more protein than other brands; 31% clean and complete protein. It's veterinarian-developed with super foods and zero junk. |
All natural, Eco Ears from Vet-Organics, is such a good product that I use it too! A product that works and is made with healthful, vegan ingredients. Eco-Ears's natural ingredients have disinfectant and antimicrobial properties. |
We scored these Doggy Delirious treats at Costco at a discount. The ingredients are perfect: Organic Pea Flour, Organic Canola Oil, Organic Cane Molasses, Organic Peanut Butter, Organic Pumpkin puree. I break them into smaller pieces. |
Wet Noses offer healthy dog treats that are easily found online at several major websites. Varieties include: The Berry Blast, Carrot and Sweet Potato Flavor, Hemp Seed and Banana, Pumpkin and Quinoa, etc., and are all vegan, made of human-grade, high quality, limited ingredients. |
Max and Ruffy's is an ethical company, all vegan, and eco-friendly. All products are vegan, organic, and human-grade ingredients. They make small bites that are perfect for small dogs. |
This quality Bone Support Product is suitable for vegans. They source quality ingredients for maximum support/nutrition. |
Many vegan professionals recommend no or low processed oils in the diet. What can I say, I eat oil. It helps me love salads, whole grains, and veggies. Spectrum Organic Canola Oil is my oil of choice. Canola is heart-healthy, and high in omega 3 and 6 fats. Because of the environmental impact of GMO's and rapeseed, the ethical choice is to purchase organic. Use for cooking and raw. |
Left: Bragg Liquid Aminos is one of my addictions and not the healthiest product I consume. It's not organic. It is so tasty though, and it is lighter in color than tamari or soy sauce; it is perfect for making food look good (and taste good). It's non-GMO, contains 15 amino acids, and doesn't contain chemical preservatives. Right: Coconut Secret Aminos is what I use for my dog's home-made meals so he doesn't get too much salt (too much salt is toxic to dogs). It's low in sodium, organic, vegan, Gluten-Free, and Non-GMO; definitely the healthier alternative. |
I love MuLondon products, based in the U.K. Pure natural essential oils and herbal extracts are used to divinely scent and gently preserve the certified organic ingredients. MuLondon products include luxurious essences like ‘Marigold, Frankincense and Myrrh’ and ‘Rose, Rosehip and Rosemary’. The range is certified organic, cruelty-free, and registered vegan by The Vegan Society (U.K.). |
I ordered the FoodToLive broccoli seeds off Amazon. I recommend broccoli sprouts in our diet. They're scientifically proven to help kill off "h.pylori" (bad bacteria) that 2/3 of the population has in their gut. I noticed how they made my dog poop big and beautiful, so I tried them in my own diet, consistently. The improvement in my bowel movements was incredible. |
I've tried NowFoods Broccoli sprout seeds, too. If you want to try a smaller amount at a time, this is a good option. Broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables around due to naturally occurring sulforaphane glucosinolate. Broccoli sprouts naturally have about 50 times more sulforaphane potential than broccoli florets. They're also a good source of fiber. I'm so convinced of their benefits that we now purchase seeds in bulk. |
Frontier Co-Op's Mexican Fiesta Seasoning is my favorite blend; I use it on everything! It's non-irradiated. I look for sales! |
Gardein meatless meats come in a wide variety and are really tasty. They're easily found in grocery stores. When my dad was in the hospital and we told them to serve him vegan food, he was given a choice of Gardein options! I don't eat them myself (except a taste), but I prepare them for my mother every night; they keep her eating vegan. The ingredients are not whole foods and have ingredients like soy isolates; which I don't consume. All their options are certified vegan: fishless filet, crab cakes, breakfast sausage patties (tasty), sliders, burgers, pockets, beefless tips, ground beefless, Meatless Meatballs, etc. The ones that come with a sauce pack, like the BBQ Wings (pictured), are my favorites. Others with sauce packets: Mandarin Crispy Chick'n, Szechuan Beefless, Teriyaki Chick'nless strips. |
Garden of Life/MyKind supplements use a process that uses only organic whole food ingredients. Certified Organic, Non-GMO, and independent third party certified vegan. Gluten-Free. Kosher. A delicious raspberry spray; a squirt a day. |
Solgar is a quality brand; their supplements come in dark brown glass bottles for ultimate freshness. I like to take all the B-complex vitamins together, including B12, as they rely on each other for absorption. Sublingual, under the tongue, is best for absorption. As we age, absorption of Vitamin B12 can decline, which is why a liquid formula like this makes it easy to digest and absorb. |
Vegans rely on sunshine exposure on the skin for their Vitamin D. For those who lack sunshine, or have issues with skin cancer, it's advised to supplement Vitamin D. It's a super important nutrient that aids bone health, cardiovascular health, and immune function. Most Vitamin D3 is not vegan, and many think it is the preferred form of Vitamin D. Vitamin D2 is always sourced from plants. Now, the market has come out with many brands of vegan Vitamin D3. Dr.'s Best Vegan D3 is made of Vitashine (developed in the U.K.) and made from lichen; a small plant species that lives with algae. |
Farm Dog 'Restore' is a salve made of excellent ingredients. My dog friend chews his paws and gets hot spots on his paws. I like this product for it's healthy and natural ingredients, and because it's fine if my dog licks it, which he does. Available on Amazon. I've been known to use it on my own skin! |
I like this product because it's chewable and easy to take. A delicious way to get my daily dose of Vitamin D; and it's a potent and active form of Vitamin D (cholecalciferol), what the body naturally produces after sun exposure. |
PerioBrite Wintermint is a fantastic oral rinse/mouthwash. All flavors are nice. Great taste, Fluoride-Free, Alcohol-Free. No Sodium-Lauryl-Sulfate, artificial sweeteners or preservatives. |
Ben and Jerry's offer a certified vegan line of ice cream. Cherry Garcia is the ultimate flavor! I can't really stomach giving my money to a company that abuses animals on such a large scale, but my dad eats their vegan line of ice cream. It's truly delicious. It's as good as ice cream can get; no reason to support the cruelty of regular ice cream. |
Trader Joe's offers Chickenless Crispy tenders (vegan) I don't eat this product. However, my dad, who doesn't really like the vegan meats, does like this product. It's one I can make for both my parents to enjoy. Some think it's the best of the vegan meats. Trader Joe's also offers Mandarine Chicken (vegan) that's very nice. Here's a list from Trader Joe's of their vegan products. |
You may wonder why I have so many supplements on my list of favorite products. I believe in prevention and try to avoid doctors and pharmaceuticals (which are tested on animals) and have side effects. Here's a supplement that works and allows us to avoid antibiotics. I don't like antibiotics and prefer a natural remedy. This works for urinary health and urinary tract infections. It's a sugar, that the e.coli (bad) bacteria clings to and is eliminated when we urinate. Give it a little time to work. |
Emmy's cookies are ALL vegan, gluten-free, organic, and non-GMO. They're healthy. Try the lemon-ginger and Vanilla Bean. |
If I feel anything coming on, or if the flu is around and about, I take this fine product for immune support. It works. |
I know with certainty that Dr.'s Best PepZinGI is a valuable product for those who need it. I've done tests. I am 1000% sure that this supplement works! Carnosine is a non-essential nutrient (because we can make it in our own bodies) that is generally found in meat. Vegans have been shown to have less of it, (and probably need less of it because they're not consuming meat which is high in acidity.) If you have a stomach ulcer, drink black coffee, or have burping and acid reflux, this nutrient (carnosine) helps coat the lining of the stomach. A non-pharmaceutical that helps to relieve gastric discomfort. |
Rudi's Spelt bread is a delicious and fluffy vegan and healthy bread. I avoid wheat, but enjoy the ancient grain; spelt. |
Dave's Killer Bread is a whole food, healthy bread with many great ingredients. It does contain wheat. It can sometimes be purchased economically at Costco. |
Please support One Degree Organics as they use organic, plant-based, (veganic) sustainable farming practices. They use only plant-based fertilizers and favor nature's own time-tested methods to build nutrients in soil, such as crop-rotation and allowing fields to lie fallow. You can meet their farmers on their website. I've tried their breads and they're nice. They're based in Canada and offer cereal, flour, seeds, granola... |
Very tasty dressings, but a bit expensive. Daiya is based in Canada and all their wonderful products are vegan. However, their parent company is a pharmaceutical company. Pharmaceuticals are tested on animals. |
Florida Crystals is one company that makes ALL vegan sugars. In the U.S., not all sugar is vegan; some is refined through animal bone char. All Florida Crystal products are fair-trade, Non-GMO, vegan and kosher. |
I like Agave Nectar; all colors and brands when liquid sweetener is needed in a recipe. It's vegan and a healthy alternative to sugar because of its very low glycemic index. |
Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother is a staple on our shelves. It's a very popular product and easily found in stores and online. |
Vegan, Eco-Friendly, Non-toxic and pleasant smelling. Check out Biokleen products HERE. |
Sal Suds by Dr. Bronner's has been around a long time. It's an economical, all-purpose concentrated biodegradable cleaner. |
Alternative Baking Company Cookies are possibly the best tasting vegan cookies on Earth. I adore the lemon-poppy flavor. The regular cookies are a bit of an indulgence; they do contain wheat and (sustainable) palm oil. They do offer gluten-free varieties as well. While not the healthiest cookie on the market, definitely the best tasting! |
Cedar's Hommus is very tasty; with pure and simple ingredients. They offer many vegan products, according to their website. (I've not tried). |
This is a quick, easy delicious product. I don't eat processed foods, but foods like this keep my parents eating vegan. |
Some think Crocs are ugly...but they are basically all I wear. Comfy, easy to slip on, and the basic varieties are all vegan. |
I obviously love this vegan product, because I published it. I recommend the paperback because it has lovely photos while the ebook has no photos. It's timeless essays were contributed by dedicated vegans on all continents. You can leave it on a table and people can read 1-2 essays at a time. Link: Why I will ALWAYS be Vegan: 125 Essays from Around the World |
Angelic Bakehouse offers a vegan and healthy bread. We were able to get it at Costco, discounted. |
Doctor's Best's unique combination uses 100% vegetable sourced Green-Grown glucosamine sulfate, Chondroitin, and MSM to support healthy joint function. It's a rare formulation to include non-animal chondroitin sulfate. Link |
Thank you for this exhaustive list of products, so useful for all of those who have decided to take on a healthier lifestyle. Food supplements can be especially interesting for people starting a vegan diet.
