We Will...A Poem for the Animal Rights Movement

We Will

We will always be mindful to spread the word

that the vegan ideal crowns all we have heard.

Our respect for animals will guide what we say.

We will express what we know in a gentle way.

We will be examples of the nonviolence we preach,

so that people can witness new heights they can reach.

We will serve justice and summon 'sentient rights'

and bear witness to those oppressed; and their plights.

We will prepare and share tasty food vegans eat;

rich in vibrant color; both savory and sweet.

With our food and our stamina being so good,

people will see that they haven't understood

how important it is for our diet to evolve,

and the planetary problems we could resolve.

For a plant-powered diet will magically bring

a multitude of benefits to everything.

We will strive to expand our heartfelt compassion

until love for animals is world-wide fashion.

We won't pay for by-products like "blood and bone",

but will make our gardens veganically-grown.

We will read the ingredients before we buy;

Our dollars won't demand an animal to die.

We will protest 'animal use' with each passing year

until every animal can live free of fear.

We won't give up, until that longed-for day arrives

when it's inconceivable to exploit other lives.

There will come a time, when people will wonder how

one could earn their "living" by slaughtering a cow.

We will bring about change; a vegan new age

where the innocent are free from human rage.

Heading for a Time when speciesism will cease,

We will live vegan, and produce a world of peace.
